HOW TO CARE FOR AND WASH MERINO WOOL AND CASHMERE SOFA OR BED BLANKETS
Care tips
Merino wool and cashmere blankets do not need to be washed frequently. Regularly airing the piece in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, is often enough to keep it fresh. We recommend dry cleaning (symbol P) at a specialist cleaner experienced in handling natural fibres. If you choose to wash the blanket at home, always hand-wash it in cold water, using a mild detergent specifically formulated for wool or delicate fibres. Before washing, we recommend removing any pills that may have formed. Pilling is a natural occurrence in natural fibres and can be gently removed using a suitable natural-bristle brush or comb.
Dry cleaning or hand washing
Treat stains as soon as possible. This can help you avoid having to wash the entire blanket or take it to the dry cleaner. Use a damp cloth with cold water (below 30 °C) and gently dab or glide it over the stain. Do not rub vigorously, as this may damage the fabric. When the blanket needs to be washed, we recommend dry cleaning (symbol P) at a specialist cleaner. If you choose to wash it at home, always hand-wash it in cold water using a mild detergent specifically formulated for wool or delicate fibres. Avoid fabric softeners and bleach. Fabric softeners can damage natural fibres and affect the breathability of wool, interfering with its natural temperature-regulating properties. Dry cleaning is particularly recommended for larger pieces, such as bed blankets.
Rinsing and drying a blanket
Do not rub, wring or twist the blanket. Gently immerse it in cold water (below 30 °C), move it carefully with your hands and rinse using water at the same temperature. Do not tumble dry. Heat and friction can damage the fibres. Dry the blanket flat, rather than hanging it while wet, to prevent it from stretching or losing its shape. If ironing is necessary, use a low-temperature steam setting and place a cloth between the blanket and the iron.
HOW TO STORE AND PROTECT YOUR TEIXIDORS PIECES
Use breathable storage bags
Blankets should always be stored in breathable bags, preferably made of cotton. This allows the wool to retain its natural breathability and helps prevent moisture from accumulating. We recommend using the cotton bag supplied with each Teixidors piece. Avoid airtight plastic bags, as they prevent the fibre from breathing and may affect its properties over time
NATURAL MOTH REPELLENTS
To help prevent moths, we recommend using natural repellents such as cedar wood. Cedar balls act as a natural repellent and help protect wool garments and textiles. Blankets and accessories should always be stored folded, never hanging, to preserve their shape and avoid unnecessary tension on the fabric.
Avoid direct sunligh
Direct sunlight can also affect the colour of natural fibres. For this reason, it is best to store your pieces in a dark place, such as inside a wardrobe or chest of drawers, protected from prolonged exposure to light.

Scarves, shawls, ponchos and small wool pieces
Because of their more manageable size, some of these pieces can occasionally be washed at home by following a few simple recommendations. Do not hang wet wool pieces, as they may stretch or lose their shape. Dry them flat on a horizontal surface. If ironing is necessary, use the steam function with the iron set to the wool setting. Never place the iron directly on the fabric.

Hand-wash the piece by fully immersing it in cold water (below 30 °C), using a mild detergent specifically formulated for wool or delicate fibres. Use a large enough container to fully immerse the piece. Leave it to soak for a few minutes. Gently press the piece against the sides of the container and move it carefully through the water. Do not rub or scrub the fabric. If you need to remove a localised stain, treat only the affected area and do so gently.

If you choose to care for the piece yourself, always hand-wash it in cold water. Do not use a washing machine, tumble dryer or spin cycle, as friction and heat can cause irreversible damage to the fibres.
Avoid hot water completely and use as little detergent as possible; in many cases, no detergent is necessary. When required, use only very mild products specifically formulated for wool or delicate fibres.
