Yukiko Kitahara Collaboration
At Teixidors, we believe that objects can tell stories when created with time, care, and attention.
That’s why the Baatsa shawl travels alongside a delicate piece by Yukiko Kitahara , a porcelain cup where a sheep rests silently, nodding to the origin of our wool.
Yukiko’s sheep embodies the same spirit that inspires our weaving gesture: a patient, generous being, close to the earth.
In the Baatsa shawl, natural fibres intertwine to the rhythm of our hands and looms; in Yukiko’s porcelain, the earth transforms softly into form and light.
Two pieces born from different crafts, yet sharing the same essence: calm, material honesty, and the beauty of simplicity.
Baatsa warms the body.
Porcelain inhabits the space.
Both invite pause and contemplation ; a dialogue where wool and porcelain speak the same language.
Yukiko Kitahara
Daughter, niece, and granddaughter of sushi chefs, Yukiko Kitahara seemed destined to follow her family’s culinary path. Yet her fascination with tableware — a central element of Japanese culture — revealed her true calling.
While studying ceramics, she encountered Spanish craft traditions and was instantly captivated. She arrived in Granada for a short course and never left — she has now lived in Spain for over thirty years.
Based in Seville since 2001, Yukiko lives with and for porcelain. In her home-studio, she spends joyful hours shaping by hand the delicate pieces that have earned her the Spanish National Craft Award and international recognition at events such as Maison&Objet and Résonance.
Applying her philosophy of precision and care to Spanish porcelain which she says “dances a lot in the kiln”, Yukiko offers a personal interpretation of Japanese tradition and craftsmanship.
Her art draws deep inspiration from nature, evoking fruits, organic forms and textures that express heartfelt gratitude and respect for the environment.
Each creation captures the essence of the natural world, inviting contemplation on our connection to it and the harmony we can find within.
With meticulous craftsmanship and devotion, Yukiko gives every piece its own soul no two are ever alike.
