Yoyo gets on well with time. Her spheres stem
from it, inviting us to look at them, surround
ourselves with them and touch them.
Her process is neither slow nor fast: it is what it is.
“Processes are what they are, in ceramics and
textiles.” In the past, she worked with fabrics
and knows exactly what she is talking about
when she has one in her hand or wrapped
around her. “Textiles require time”, she tells
me. “There are no shortcuts if you want to do
things right. I am moved when I see beautiful
things made with love and time.” And I listen
to Yoyo.

I am typing these lines as I travel on the fastest means of transport: an aeroplane. Through the window, I can see the Peninsula fading behind me and the Mediterranean coming into view. This is the same sea that Yoyo visits on her bicycle.
I look at it from 30 000 feet, travelling at more than 800 kilometres an hour. She
steps on it with her feet. It’s not the same.
